Azopt® contains brinzolamide, which is a carbonc-anhydrase-inhibitor (CAI). CAIs decrease the production of liquid (aqueous humor) inside the eye and CAIs are used the the treatment of glaucoma (high intraocular pressure)in dogs.

If Azopt® is not effective in keeping the intraocular presure low, dogs may benifit from glaucoma surgery and/or Xalatan® or Travatan® eyedrops. If surgery and medication is not able to keep the intraocular pressure down, the only sensible solution may be to remove the eye.
